Gad ala pan Sinha gela”, meaning “We have gained the fort, but lost a lion.” Shivaji Maharaj's words on the death of Tanaji Malusare the great warrior who gave his life fighting along with his brother Suryaji Malusare and his uncle Shelarmama.

Kangori Fort was built by Chandra Rao More of Jawli. In 1648 Shivaji Maharaj captured this fort and renamed it Mangalgad. Chitursing the brother of the Raja of Satara was confined here from 1812 till his death in 1818. In 1817 Cornet's Hunter and Morrison, two English officers were imprisoned here for some time.

The best spot to visit is in or after Monsoon. This bridge is over 25-30 meters long and connects which connects two villages. The villagers cross this bridge in order to travel to the other side. As you walk past the bridge you see the furious water gushing downstream with its top speed. Nothing is as pleasant as watching the water flow below our feet standing on the Hanging Bridge.
